Trying to find soapberry trees

Do any of you know where I can find some soapberry trees or seeds? My friend Cathy asked me about them the other day - it would be great to find some.

This is what I'm looking for:

It's apparently carried at a nursery in Jacksonville, but a source for seed would be even cooler.

Any ideas?

I wonder if Grenada has any of those? Must check that out.

Chiappini's Native Nursery in Melrose has them but is wholesale...perhaps he could recommend his customers that would have them for sale.

I'll get in touch with them. I have a nursery license, so wholesale is great. And, even better, that's not too far from me. Thanks a bunch, Karen!

There is a couple here in Inverness that sells soap nuts at the Farmers market downtown.
They are also readily available online- just search for soap nuts.
I bought some to try in the laundry and made a ginger lemon soap nut shampoo that I found on a forum. I swear it sucked every atom of oil out of my hair and not in a good way.

Yes - I've seen them for sale, though they're always the husks without the seeds.

I'll have to remember to not to use them for shampoo. My wife has hair down to her waist... sounds like soapnut shampoo would be a disaster.

Thanks for stopping in!

Actually these folks also sell the seeds.

Nice! I haven't had any luck at the closer farmer's markets.

If you manage to nab a couple dozen seeds, I'll happily trade you some cassava cuttings for them, or pay you via paypal.

I'll try and find them and see what I can get.
Will let you know...
